  1. I'm checking in from NYS. I feel like I am alone in this fight. I don't think many parents understand what has happened. I spoke to several very good friends of mine and they had no clue. I am trying to educate them so we can get some kind of grassroots effort here. Would be great to hear other parents from the NY/CT. area. It truly feels like my children are being kidnapped from me virtually.

    1. NYMom,
I understand exactly how you feel! Take heart and don't lose hope. I am sure you will be able to find some people to start up the movement against Common Core in your state. Have you checked the list of state groups? I am pretty sure there are two for NY.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts here. You are not alone. Together we can win this battle.

      United we stand,
      Jennifer

    1. Yes Anon, thanks for pointing that out! :)
I also have Parents and Educators Against Common Core Standards listed in the "Nationwide" section of "Groups By State Who Oppose Common Core" as well.

    2. How can people make a change and who is leading this ?? Common core is design to confuse students and steal our hard tax paying money. Why should we give 50 millions to an English company to institute a mess for our children. I challenge anyone who supports Common Core its a nonsense approach that proves nothing but dislike from students and parents.

  3. I too feel alone in the fight against the common core. Nobody around here knows about this yet. Where is the ACLU? Are there any lawsuits against the common core?

Hi everyone. I just heard about this and in the past week I have been dedicated to researching Common Core, including the supports side as well. I am absolutely terrified of this curriculum. The kids are bored and are having anxiety in Kindergarden. Recently a mom spoke on a panel in front of Colorado legislators regarding a book called "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison. It is currently on the reading for 11th graders on the Common Core State Standards for ELA. I was absolutely horrified by the exerts from this book. They are incredibly sexually graphic. The story is from the pedophiles view point and describes in detail raping a child. Every parent should know about this book. Common Core supporters will not remove it from the reading list because it's under "suggested" reading. Read the exerts here http://politichicks.tv/column/warning-graphic-common-core-approved-child-pornography/. FIGHT!!! and don't stop fighting. We have to get rid of Common Core.

  7. Here's my story:

I was born in 1990. When I was about three or four, we moved overseas and lived in Germany because my dad was deployed there and was stationed at Rose Barracks. Because of this, when I began kindergarten, I was placed in Outcome-Based Schools via the Dept. of Ed. This was in the early 1990's.

My mom tells me stories all the time, and I can even remember, sitting at the kitchen table, my mom crying her eyes out, because I just didn't understand what the expectation was and she was unable to help me. The learning outcome was basically, as I remember, "As long as he knows the process and that there's an outcome, he's understanding." The problem was I was writing my name wrong for about three years of my life. My "N" was backwards, my "a" was okay; My "t" was backwards, and my "e" was upside down. I couldn't do basic math like, "2+2."

When we came stateside, I was enrolled in public schools, Rosendale, GA, and was in a "1,2" class, which meant I was in 1st and 2nd grade, with two curriculums, and as I progressed through 1st, they would give me the 2nd gr. material. Lovely. I was the only kid in my 2nd grade class that had to use the WIDE lined paper because I couldn't write or do numbers. I was a failing student all my life until we moved to Wisconsin, when I finally was able to perform at grade level.

    Fast forward:
I'm a long-term sub in an Arizona school, and this is perhaps the craziest system on the face of the Earth. Who in their right mind wants to put people what I went through? Yesterday, I was coming home from work, and it dawned on me, "Nathan, what you're having your students do in class is exactly what YOU had to do in Federal Schooling." I shudder to think that I've become part of the system that destroyed my schooling experience, and I'm now going to fight against the system and actually attempt to instill the right values in these children. Old fashioned values like, "Be an individual and think for yourself," and I'm going to help them to understand that the "mob" mentality, and all this "community" and "social" CRAP is re-packaged communism; and I'm going to teach these kids SOMETHING. Just anything other than how to be a machine and spit out answers and go with the flow.

    Pray for me.

Oh, by the way, I DO READ THE BIBLE IN CLASS, and I DO talk about Jesus, and I tell my kids NOT to blaspheme Christ.

  8. Hello Nathan ,
first let me tell you that I will pray for you. Before the foundation of the world all that you are doing and everyone who has an ear to hear what Spirit of the Lord is saying has been ordained .Your just backing up into it.That for such a time as this. No weapon formed against us will prosper it may form but it will NOT prosper.I am the grandmother a nine year old little girl. I am so thankful my husband and I are her legal guardians. Had I not still been in the loop raising her I would have never known what was going on in the school systems. Because some parents are not training their children up in the way they should go. Coming from CT. When she brought home the work that she was expected to do.We all know you cannot recognize what you haven't cognized. I immediately got to the CORE of what was going on and every since then she has been OPTED out. We have since relocated to GA. My husband and myself are doing a form of our own homeschooling. She still is in public school, but I might add at this point it is mainly for socialization. In reference to her academics we keep her on point concerning the skills she should be learning. Therefore eliminating any CC material that be presented to her. She knows and has the full understanding that we have her back and knows her rights. If it looks like CC sounds like CC it is CC. My awakening happened as we were not financially able to keep her in Christian school going into her 3rd grade year. Now I know why, if I hadn't been exposed to what this spirit of the anti-Christ was trying to do concerning my rights as a parent to have a "say " in her education . I probably wouldn't be a voice crying in the wilderness in reference to this diabolical scheme to undermine the future of our children. It reminds me of king Herod trying to destroy all children under the age of two to weed out our Messiah. Didn't work then and won't work now.
And just like then when I would try to explain to other parents what was going some would be totally oblivious.Looking at me as if I had two heads. However just like David said "is their not a cause". As my granddaughter is the only one in her school who has been opted out. Believe me we are on it.My hearts desire is that she would be back in a christian school.or even home schooled But I also believe that she being a born again believer she's fireproof. Sometimes its is not for us to run out of the situation but to stand for something and allow God to use us in the midst of the situation.Seeing that we are the salt of the earth. And God is looking for SOMEONE to show himself strong in. So for such a time as this I stand with you my brother, you are not alone like Elisha not all have bowed to Baal.Continue to train up those students in the way they should go. You too have been positioned where you are, not by your choosing but the God that you serve has you on assignment and because you have experienced first hand what the enemy had tried to do to you to sabotage your future,as a child I might add. You have insight in this area. It is familiar to you, the powers that be don't stand a chance. It's not even a fair fight because God has all power, and all means ALL. So take notes and win those souls for the Lord. Matthew 10:16 sheep among wolves.God got your back. That's why are armor is in front.Keep standing and see .......................This is your destiny, save nothing for the way back.Jer:29:11 Nikkibisquits
